Research Governance
The Research Governance section contains the official governance policies of the AIM Research Institute.
These documents define the principles, responsibilities, ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and operational policies that govern the Institute's research activities.
Unlike Working Papers, which present research findings, and Protocols, which define operational specifications, Research Governance establishes the institutional framework supporting the responsible conduct of AIM research.

Scope: All AI-assisted observation, documentation, verification, and research activities conducted within the AIM Research Institute.

1. Purpose
This policy establishes the principles governing the use of artificial intelligence within the AIM Research Institute.
AI is employed solely as a structural observation and documentation support system.
It does not replace human observation, human judgment, or the responsibility of the Founder, researchers, or practitioners.
The purpose of this policy is to preserve the integrity, accountability, and independence of human observation while appropriately integrating AI into research activities.
2. Position of AI
Within AIM, AI shall never function as the decision maker.
Its role is limited to supporting:
・Structural organization
・Language refinement
・Translation
・Documentation
・Hypothesis generation
・Structural verification
・Detection of logical inconsistency
Observation itself remains a human responsibility.
3. Principle of Human Responsibility
All observations, interpretations, and conclusions produced within AIM remain the responsibility of the human observer.
AI may assist the observation process.
AI shall never become the observer.
Responsibility for judgment cannot be delegated to artificial intelligence.
4. Research Material Classification
Research materials shall be managed according to the following classifications.
Category A — Public Research Materials
Includes:
・Published Protocols
・Published Working Papers
・Public Research Articles
・Educational Materials
・Public Architecture Documents
These materials may be processed through AI for:
・Editing
・Translation
・Structural refinement
・Structural verification
Category B — Internal Research Materials
Includes:
・Draft Protocols
・Internal Documentation
・Research Notes
・Operational Documents
・Hypothesis Development
These materials may be processed through AI when consistent with the Institute's research objectives.
Category C — Confidential Case Materials
Includes:
・Client observations
・Academy case records
・Individual decision pathways
・Organizational observations
・Information protected by confidentiality agreements
Whenever AI is used with confidential materials, additional protection shall be applied.
Whenever possible:
・Personal identifiers shall be removed.
・Company names shall be removed.
・Locations shall be generalized.
・Case IDs shall replace personal identification.
・Only information necessary for structural verification shall be included.
5. Minimum Necessary Principle
Only the minimum information required for structural observation shall be shared with AI.
The objective of AIM is not to identify people.
The objective of AIM is to observe judgment structures.
6. Confidential Information
The following information shall not be provided to AI unless explicit authorization exists:
・Passwords
・Authentication credentials
・Government identification numbers
・Banking information
・Confidential contractual information
・Information protected by NDA
・Sensitive third-party personal information
7. AI-Assisted Observation
AI may assist observation by:
・Organizing observations
・Verifying structural consistency
・Testing alternative interpretations
・Improving documentation
・Refining language
・Supporting translation
Final interpretation and judgment remain the responsibility of the human observer.
8. Client Transparency
When AI is used during professional observation, clients should be informed that AI functions solely as a documentation and structural support tool.
AI does not provide:
・Consulting
・Diagnosis
・Coaching
・Decision-making
Human responsibility remains unchanged.
9. Relationship to the AIM Decision Architecture Protocol
This policy governs the organizational use of artificial intelligence within the AIM Research Institute.
It operates alongside the AIM Decision Architecture Protocol, which defines the architectural relationship between human judgment and artificial intelligence.
Where interpretation differs, the AIM Decision Architecture Protocol governs the architectural role of AI.
10. Research Integrity
The AIM Research Institute preserves human judgment as the primary object of observation.
AI exists solely to support the documentation, organization, and verification of that observation.
The theoretical integrity of AIM remains independent of any AI system.
Research responsibility always remains human.
Core Principle
Human judgment is observed by humans.
AI supports the observation.
AI never replaces the observer.
Founder Note
AI is not AIM.
AI is a research tool operating within the boundaries defined by AIM.
The object of observation remains human judgment.
The responsibility for observation remains human.
This policy exists to preserve that distinction.
